Professor Timothy Mercer from the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (AIBN) at The University of Queensland (UQ) has over 20 years of experience in RNA biology, genomics, and bioinformatics. He is the Director of the BASE Facility, a leading national centre for mRNA research and manufacturing. This facility offers end-to-end capabilities for the development of mRNA medicines, from initial bioinformatic design through to mRNA synthesis and lipid nanoparticle (LNP) formulation. These capabilities support a research program focused on understanding and developing new mRNA medicines.
